Dental Implants at Centennial Dentist

What Are Dental Implants?

Implants are a permanent, fixed, tooth replacement option that Dr. Christ is proud to provide right in our office. You may need a dental implant if you have one or more missing teeth, due to decay or injury. An implant is a surgical fixture that is placed into the jawbone and allowed to fuse over the span of a few months. Dr. Christ is an experienced and accomplished surgeon. He works with the best anesthesiologists to fit your sedation needs. Your comfort is our paramount concern.

An implant acts as a replacement for the root of a missing tooth. Post-procedure, you may experience some discomfort. However, Dr. Christ prescribes the necessary medications, and recommends the most effective post- op care, to ensure our patients have minimal discomfort. We recommend eating soft foods post procedure, such as yogurt, and soup.

After the implant is placed there is a healing period lasting about four months on average. After the healing period, Dr. Christ makes an implant crown which fits on top of the implant (artificial root) he placed during surgery. The crown provides a new tooth in the area where one was missing. For a long lasting smile with dental implants; you will want to follow up with regular dental visits, professional cleanings, brush at least twice a day, and floss daily.

Having Dr. Christ place your implant allows for a one stop implant solution, rather than having to go to different offices or specialists to meet your implant needs. If you are unhappy with your smile, or you have missing teeth that you would like to replace, we are happy to provide a consultation to see if you are a good candidate for dental implants.

Benefits of Implants

  • The American Dental Association (ADA) estimated more than 5.5 million implants are fulfilled annually by dentists in the U.S. There are many positives to having dental implants:
  • Implants don’t slip or shift, providing stability and security in your mouth
  • Implants are cleaned in the same way as your natural teeth, so there’s no need to take them out at night for cleaning or soaking.
  • Implants don’t rely on neighboring teeth for support. No tooth structure is lost, as is necessary when fabricating a bridge.
  • Implants prevent the shifting of nearby teeth, preserving the jawbone and the contour of your face.
  • Implants are an ideal cosmetic solution to missing teeth, allowing you to chew and speak with ease.
